Kalamansi Power

Stress, worry, unhealthy food…………are just some of the things that produce acid in our body. Our body does its best to keep our blood pH between 7.35 and 7.45. Always. If it fails, goodbye world. If we are so abusive and unmindful of our body’s effort to keep us alive, and thereby stuff ourselves with garbages like most of the time (if not all the time), one of our body’s defense mechanism is to release alkalizing minerals from our bones. I love my bones, thank you very much. (Btw, drinking cow’s milk has acidic effect on our body. So, go figure…)
I take care of my body. For spiritual, practical, and vanity reason.
I’d like to theorize that my present pregnancy is somehow producing more acids than I desire. I get hounded by C word that other pregnant women might be all too familiar with. CONSTIPATION. So, excuse me if talk about it.
It plagued me for a while. I dreaded going to the bathroom. Despite downing on required water every day, Mr. C is still there. Despite munching on my greens and what nots just to make sure I get more fiber, Mr. C is still there. Mr. C has made CR not a comfort room. It was more of a discomfort room. It has become a bloody business too, literally. I dreaded every moment with Mr. C. He made me feel helpless.
Then I remembered kalamansi power. I’ve tried it before. Now, I’m on it again. So, what benefits am I experiencing now especially that I’m pregnant?
1. Alkalizing effect. Most of us has this misconception that kalamansi is acidic. And we’re right. If we mix kalamansi with something else like sugar, honey, etc. it reacts and becomes acidic. But take it on an empty stomach and nothing else, it has alkalizing effect.
2. Goodbye Mr. C. I couldn’t be more happy to end my very intimate relationship with Mr. C. Good riddance. I need not tell you again my sob story of him.
3. Less skin pigmentation. Most pregnant women are plagued with pigmentation. My friends say I don’t look pregnant. By that they mean, my face look clean and free of hyper-pigmentation. They blame it on my genes. I know bettter. I’ve had days without kalamansi. And I look and feel old.
So, how do go about kalamansi? First day, I started withh 4. I take it upon waking up in the morning on an empty stomach. I take it alone. I just squeese it. Beat it like I do to an egg (to separate the pulp from the seeds). I take out the seeds (my sister took it a step further by including the seeds to her regimen). Then, I drink it like a pro.
The next day, I increase the number by 4. So, the number each day should look like this, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28. You can maintain a 28. Or move to a 30 and stay there.
Note: One of the reasons I stopped kalamansi when I got pregnant was that I feared that it might adversely affect my baby. But then now that I thought about other pregnant moms who is not careful with their diet (like drink sodas, eat too much sweets, eat too much healthy food) still had their babies completely formed. I mean, no missing fingers or toes or such things.
