Believers as Heralds

By Emerald Morgia

Knowing my worth as person is liberating.

Knowing my purpose in God’s kingdom is empowering.

One of my job as a Christian is a herald. A herald is an official messenger of a King or a nobleman. And since I belong too God’s kingdom, it is God’s “verdict” or “decisions” that I must announce.

In Christian theology, they call this “proclamation.”

This is an excerpt of Derek Prince’s sermon on proclamation….

The verb “to proclaim” comes from the Latin word that means “to shout forth.”

The related work in the New Testament is “confession” or “to confess.” Confession means “to say the same as…” For us believers of the Bible, confession means we say with our mouth as God already said in His word. We make the words of our mouth agree with the word of God. And in that way, we line ourselves up to receive the full backing and authority of Jesus.

Hebrews 3:1, says Jesus is the high priest of our confession. If you have no confession, you have no high priest. He is our high priest in respect of what we confess. IN other words, whatever we say with our mouths, whatever the Bible says about us (believers in Jesus), then we have Jesus as our high priest in heaven, releasing his authority and his blessings.

But if we remain silent, in a certain sense, we shut off his ministry as high priest. And if we make the wrong confession, we do even worse. In a certain sense, we invite negative forces to surround us and move upon us.

Proclamation is in a word a spiritual warfare. It’s releasing the authority of God’s word into a situation: into our own lives, into the life of the church, into a political situation, etc..

Practical Application

Before we pray for something, it is but Biblical to proclaim the “supporting documents,” that is, the verses what God has long ago decree in support of our plea.

Example of verses to proclaim when I ask for financial breakthrough are these verses.

Isaiah 55:10-11

For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it bud and sprout, and providing seed to sow and food to eat, 11so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it.…

2 Corinthians 9:8

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things, at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

In a way, God has given us a rod like he had given to Moses. That rod is the Bible. We must wield its power by proclaiming.
